Innisfail music students are getting ready to perform as the curtain raises for Fanfare 2016 Regional Festival on Friday 20 May 2016

Treasurer and Member for Mulgrave Curtis Pitt said Fanfare festivals were a great opportunity for Queensland state school students to showcase their musical talent.

“Fanfare is a biennial festival where instrumental music students from all over Queensland are given an opportunity to put their skills on display,” Mr Pitt said.

“It’s a fantastic showcase for the incredible talent of music students and the high standard of music education we have in our local schools.

“This year, students from various local schools will participate in the Fanfare Regional Festival at Innisfail State College on Friday 20 May 2016.

Groups from all Canecutter Cluster Primary Schools and Innisfail State College will be performing at the Fanfare event starting at 9:30am.

“The winners of regional festivals go on to regional finals and five primary and five secondary ensembles are selected to perform at the finals in Brisbane in August,” Mr Pitt said.

“I wish students all the best for the festival and look forward to seeing their hard work pay off.”
