Shadow Sports Minister, Curtis Pitt, says the Premier needs to explain what steps his government took to secure two State of Origin games for Queensland in 2013.
Mr Pitt said reports of a special deal between the NSW government and league authorities suggested the Newman Government may have had a chance to change the game schedule for next year.
“If there was an opportunity for the state government to influence the roster of State of Origin games in 2013, the Premier should let Maroon fans know,” He said.
“If the Premier has dropped the ball, fans will be interested to know.
“It still won’t stop us from monstering New South Wales again next year. We’ll just have to do it living out of a suitcase that’s all – not a problem for Canetoads as they’re used to being on the road.
“I think no matter where the Maroons play they will wipe the Blues, but that does not diminish the loss of a home game,” Mr Pitt said.
