[singlepic id=294 w=320 h=240 float=left]Christmas will come early for a number of community groups set to benefit from more than $150,000 worth of Reef Hotel Casino Community Benefit Fund and Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants, Member for Mulgrave Curtis Pitt announced today.
“While some say cash is a bit thoughtless at Christmas, somehow I don’t think the community groups of Mulgrave will share in that sentiment,” Mr Pitt said.
“Christmas stockings stuffed with cash will make a real difference to these groups.
“These not-for-profit groups are the backbone of our society, working to support our local community through good times and bad.
“I’m sure today’s announcement will prove to be a good one for these hardworking community groups.”
The funds use a percentage of state revenue raised from gaming activities to offer grants to assist notfor- profit groups meet the ongoing demands for their services.
To apply for a grant simply visit the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation website at www.olgr.qld.gov.au and click on ‘grants’.
Applications for the next round of funding will close 28 February 2011.
